To activate and split screen multitasking iPad with iOS 11, simply follow the instructions below:

  1. Open an application that supports split screen. Although most, or at least a large part of apps are compatible with this feature, not all of them are, nor is there a way to find out more quickly than to do the test.
  2. Once you have a first app open, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to show the dock. Touch and drag the icon of the app you want to the right side of the screen. If the application supports multitasking on split screen, you will see how it appears in the right half of the screen.
  3. With the central button (a vertical line between both apps) you can adjust the size of the two applications in a ratio of 80/20 or 50/50.
  4. And when you want to remove an application from the split screen, simply drag the middle button to one side to leave only the app you want on the screen. Or also touch the button you see at the top of that app's window and drag down. This will bring the app back to the Slide Over. From there, simply swipe the application off the screen with the same button.                                                                                                                                                                            Something important to keep in mind is that iOS 11 is able to remember that you usually use two concrete apps on a split screen, so that the next time you launch the main application, the secondary application will launch with it. In addition, the pairing of both applications will be remembered in multitasking, so you can quickly return to that set of apps and continue with your work.                                                                                                                                         And of course, you can also add a third application above the two current applications, although only in Slide Over mode (in the image above, the “Notes” app).
